About
Welcome to Kaimas (Village) Lithuanian Restaurant, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Peterborough at 561-563 Lincoln Rd. This charming eatery offers a delightful experience that transports you to the rich culinary traditions of Lithuania. Known for its warm, village-inspired decor, Kaimas promises not just a meal but a genuinely immersive cultural experience.
As soon as you step inside, you’re greeted with an atmosphere that is both inviting and cozy, reminiscent of a quaint village eatery. The rustic decor adds to the charm, putting you in the perfect frame of mind to indulge in some authentic Lithuanian cuisine. Here, family-style dining is the norm, fostering a communal spirit that enhances the overall experience.
One of the standout features of Kaimas is its generous portion sizes. Customers rave about the vast meal servings that come at astonishingly reasonable prices. As Paul Powers enthusiastically shared in his review, the food here is worth every penny and then some. Sharing a meal with friends or family amplifies the joy of dining—especially when you have dishes like cepelinai, a beloved Lithuanian potato dumpling, which is as hearty as it is delicious.
The menu, while predominantly in Lithuanian, is easily navigable with some help from the friendly staff. Dana Mamrillova appreciated how, once the language barrier was recognized, the team switched effortlessly to English to enhance her dining experience. This attention to customer satisfaction, paired with the genuine smiles of the staff, sets Kaimas apart from many establishments. Crisp service complements the remarkable food, ensuring that your visit feels both special and personal.
But it’s not just the food and service that impress. Diners have noted the restaurant's occasional special deals and events, which, when followed on social media, add that little extra to your dining experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply indulging in a casual meal, Kaimas makes it worthwhile to plan in advance, as reservations are highly recommended, especially on busy days like Lithuanian Mother's Day.
Overall, Kaimas (Village) Lithuanian Restaurant is not just a place to eat—it's a place to experience the warmth of Lithuanian hospitality. The combination of delicious food, generous portions, and a friendly atmosphere makes every visit a memorable one. So, if you’re in Peterborough and craving something different, make your way to Kaimas, and prepare yourself to be amazed.
“ The location is rough but the food and service is completely worth it. We had fantastic meals here today. We came with friends from Germany and our kids and we all were overblown by the incredible service. The portions are enormous and very cheap. The quality was amazing and it tasted fantastic. Would definitely go again. ”
“ Please plan your visit and book in advance. Also ,please make sure you have a cash on you. Is just outside,a few meters away :) We were lucky to get a table for two in very short notice (today Lithuanians celebrate Mothers Day). Worth to follow them on fb. I notice occasionally they offer special deals, discounts and organize events :) I love the "village" decor, very pretty. Not sure if Menu is available in different than Lithuanian language , but my partner translated for me today. The staff was very friendly, once the lady learned i do not speak Lithuanian, she spoke very good English with me. Service with a smile. Food delicious and HUGE portions. Reasonable prices too. Overall excellent experience, we will be back :) ”
“ Nice atmosphere, food delicious, big portions ”
“ Lovely and delicious food, great atmosphere. Every time I come to Peterborough, I try to visit this restaurant. And if I have someone new to take to this place, they are well impressed. Food is always perfect- tasty I see you again soon ... ”
“ Sought this place out after visiting Peterborough. Went for a quick meal and a couple of beers. It has been so long since I had the pleasure of having anything Lithuanian and I must say they did not disappoint. Food was amazing but I forgot how big the cepelinai were so I took the rest home. I do recommend this place if you're up for something different but it's CASH ONLY. ”
“ Lovely food, good selection. Sat out on balcony where it is dog friendly. ”
“ Authentic Lithuanian food that truly makes me feel like I’m back home. The flavours are rich, hearty, and exactly what you’d hope for — from comforting soups to traditional mains, everything feels homemade in the best way. Portions are very generous, so go in hungry or consider sharing. The atmosphere is cosy and unpretentious, like eating at your Lithuanian grandma’s house. Just a heads up: it’s cash only, so come prepared! ”
“ The food was amazing and the portions were huge! Take half a portion of cepelinai because it’s huge! Haha. Great service and a really nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend! ”
